Deputy Minister for Industrial Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry
Walid Abukhaled is Deputy Minister for Industrial Affairs for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Minister for Industrial Affairs, Mr. Abukhaled was President and CEO of GE for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. In that role, he was responsible for leading GE’s operations, promoting growth in the region, and exploring opportunities for public-private partnerships.
Mr. Abukhaled has over 21 years of experience in industry in Saudi Arabia. Before working for GE, he was the Director of Portfolio Management and Chairman of BAE Systems’ Saudi Arabia Operations Board. In that role, he was appointed Chairman of the Board for Aircraft Accessories and Components Company and Board Director for Advanced Electronics Company, International Systems Engineering, and Saudi Development and Training Company. His experience covers a variety of technical support, field operations, communications, sales, marketing, strategy, and executive positions throughout Europe and the Middle East over the course of his career. Mr. Abukhaled currently sits on boards and committees for several organizations including the Supervisory Committee of the National Plan for Science and Technology, Board of Directors for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), the Economic Offset Committee, and the National Committee of the Energy World Council, amongst many others.
Mr. Abukhaled holds a degree in Industrial and Management Systems from the University of South Florida.
