Hamad M. H. Al-Sheikh
Vice Minister for Male Education, Ministry of Education
H.E. Dr. Hamad M.H. Al-Sheikh is Vice Minister for Male Education for the Ministry of Education. He was appointed to his current position in December 2011 after serving as Vice Rector for Development and Quality at King Saud University.
Previously, Dr. Al-Sheikh served in a variety of roles at King Saud University. He was Dean of King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, Vice Dean of Development and Accreditation in the College of Business Administration, and Chairman and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics. At the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, he supervised more than 300 consulting projects valued at more than $100 million and he also lectured on economic issues in Saudi Arabia and internationally. Additionally, Dr. Al-Sheikh has authored or co-authored many publications on a variety of topics such as the impact of domestic oil consumption on foregone oil exports, price, income, and expenditure elasticities related to oil, potential effects of the economic crisis, the foundations of mathematical economics, and studies of herding and pastoral communities in northern Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Al-Sheikh received a B.S. in Economics from King Saud University, an M.A. from the University of San Francisco in Economics, an M.A. from Stanford University in Development Studies, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University.
