Abdullah Mohammad Al-Shehri
Governor, Electricity & Cogeneration Regulatory Authority
H.E. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Shehri is Governor of the Electricity & Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA). In that role, he oversees the functioning of the ECRA as an independent regulator of electricity and desalinated water within Saudi Arabia.
Before his current position, Dr. Al-Shehri served as Vice Governor for Regulatory Affairs from 2005 to 2009. He is a former member of the Shura Council, a professor of Electrical Engineering, and ex-Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Dr. Al-Shehri has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on electrical power systems analysis and planning and he has been involved in basic and applied research in power systems. Previously, he was a member and leader of several working groups that conducted national and regional studies in power systems interconnections, including a feasibility study for interconnecting power systems in the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and he was a principal investigator in several studies on power systems planning, energy conservation, power quality, renewable energy, and cogeneration. Dr. Al-Shehri has published numerous papers and articles in international and domestic scientific journals and conferences.
Dr. Al-Shehri received his Ph.D. from Oregon State University in 1985 in the area of power systems. He also holds M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
