Dr. Ziad Al-Labban
CEO, Sadara Chemical Company
Ziad Al-Labban is the Chief Executive Officer of Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and The Dow Chemical Company. Mr. Al-Labban was appointed Chief Executive Officer in September 2012 and currently oversees the development of Sadara’s petrochemicals complex in Jubail Industrial City II in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. He has more than 30 years of upstream and downstream knowledge and experience in the oil, gas, and petrochemicals sectors.
Prior to joining Sadara, Mr. Al-Labban served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rabigh Refining & Petrochemicals Co. (Petro Rabigh) which operates a 400,000 barrel per day integrated refinery and petrochemicals plant. Before working with Petro Rabigh, Mr. Al-Labban was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Refining, Incorporated (SRI) in Houston, Texas. He was responsible for managing SRI’s endeavors with Motiva Enterprises, a U.S. refiner with three refineries supported by 8,000 retail service stations in the eastern and southern parts of the U.S.
Mr. Al-Labban holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University. He started in the industry with Saudi Aramco in 1982.
