Munir M. Rafie, Vice President, Saudi Aramco Materials Supply
Munir Rafie is the Vice President of Saudi Aramco’s Materials Supply organization, a position he was appointed to in June 2009. As head of Materials Supply, Mr. Rafie is responsible for overseeing corporate supply chain management operations, which include a multi-billion dollar procurement of diversified project construction, operational and maintenance service contracts, and placement of material purchases for strategic and general supply commodities. Mr. Rafie is also responsible for the management and control of Saudi Aramco’s multi-million dollar corporate inventory and overseeing the global materials logistics movements through air, sea, and land routes, along with managing the company’s material distribution network and supporting oil and gas operations across Saudi Arabia.
Joining Saudi Aramco in 1977 as an Engineer, Mr. Rafie has held a variety of supervisory and managerial positions in oil operations, maintenance, and support services. In 1987, he was appointed Manager of Roads and Heavy Equipment, and later in his career held several positions in different areas of the company’s operations that included oil operations and maintenance, crude oil sales and marketing, marine, and Saudi Aramco’s Vela International Marine Limited. In 1997, he was appointed President of Saudi Petroleum International Inc. in New York. On his return to Saudi Arabia in 2000, he was appointed Executive Director of Community Services. In 2002, he moved to the position of Vice President of Employee Relations and Training. Later in 2003, he was appointed Vice President of Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization.
Mr. Rafie is a graduate of King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, where he received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1976. In 1981, he received a MBA from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
