Associate Director, World Food Center, University of California, Davis
Dr. Josette Lewis is the Associate Director of the World Food Center at UC Davis, a focal point for leveraging the University’s global leadership in agriculture, food industry, and health research to support economic development , sustainability, and social benefit in California, the U.S., and globally.
Previously, Dr. Lewis was a recipient of a Science Diplomacy Fellowship from the American Association for the Advancement of Science at the beginning of her career with the U.S. Agency for International Development. During her sixteen years with USAID, she led a variety of international agricultural research and policy development programs. Dr. Lewis played a leadership role in the strategic design of the Obama Administration’s global food security initiative, Feed the Future. From USAID, Dr. Lewis moved to the private sector, advancing the business development of Arcadia Biosciences, an agricultural biotechnology company.
Dr. Lewis received her B.S. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis and her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UCLA.
