Dr. Mohammad Zamakhshary, Advisor, Ministry of Health
Mohammed F.T. Zamakhshary graduated from the College of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University. He then joined the residency training program at the Division of General Surgery at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. During his residency, Dr. Zamakhshary took time off to do a clinical investigator fellowship where he completed a Masters in Medical Education through a joint program between Mount St. Vincent and Dalhousie Universities, in addition to completing his studies against a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology and Public Health at Dalhousie University.
Dr. Zamakhshary then successfully matched through the national residency matching program (NRMP) to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto for a two year clinical General Pediatric Surgery fellowship. Dr. Zamakhshary holds two royal college of physicians and surgeons of Canada board certificates in both Adult and Pediatric General Surgery. To date, Dr. Zamakhshary has published more than 30 peer reviewed manuscripts in addition to numerous other letters and book chapters. He has been the recipient of multiple research awards both in Canada and in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Zamakhshary was appointed Associate Professor of Surgery for the Department of Surgery in addition to cross appointments for the Department of Medical Education in the College of Medicine (COM) and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health (CoPH) at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS). He also held an appointment at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) where he founded and directed the Clinical Investigator Program, Population Health Research Section and Surgical Technology innovation.
Dr. Zamakhshary recently was recruited to the Ministry of Health as Advisor to His Excellency the Minister where he is in charge of Research & Development.
